In nearly all countries where trends are available, the latest Pew Global Attitudes survey finds that people are less inclined to say they like American ideas about democracy than they were in 2002, but the largest decline was registered in Venezuela where only 40% now register approval of U.S.-style democracy, a 27-point drop from the 67% who said so five years earlier. Other countries registering sharp declines include Turkey, a 25-point drop, and Indonesia, a 23-point decline.
