The Pew Research Center’s Political Typology sorts voters into cohesive groups based on their political attitudes and values. The 2014 Typology, the sixth of its kind, has eight groups – from Solid Liberals and Steadfast Conservatives, to groups that hold more mixed ideological views, such as the Young Outsiders and Hard-Pressed Skeptics. Educators have often used the Political Typology as a teaching tool in high school and college classes about American government and politics, as well as social studies and research methods.

This year, for the first time, we have created a version of our Political Typology quiz that you can use to engage your students and so they can learn how their political views compare with each other and with the rest of the country.

If you do incorporate the quiz into your curriculum, we’d love to hear about how you used it! Contact us with any questions or feedback at quiz-support@pewresearch.org.
